Abstract: RFI, Radio Frequency Identification, is a system used for tagging a component to allow information to be read from the component at a relevant point in its operation or the production cycle. By attaching this tag to a pattern, this approach can be used to control a number of process variables for that particular mold, such as compaction table vibration level sand type and percent resin addition. Accurate control of all these factors minimizes waste. The main benefit of tagging, as compared to barcoding, is that there is not a requirement for a direct line of sight. The tag can be read through most objects.
