Abstract: This paper is intended to provide an understanding of the methodology for ISO 9000 implementation in the small foundry. It is based on the methods used by the author to implement ISO 9000 at over eighteen facilities within Hickman, Williams \& Company, including United States, Canadian and Mexican facilities. It also is about creating a sound business tool that can be used in improving the bottom line. ISO 9000 certification demonstrates the ability of a supplier to control his processes while providing consistent products and services. The global acceptance of ISO 9000 is reason enough to pursue achieving registration. By achieving the ISO 9000 “Seal of Approval” you make your customers feel better about doing business with you while you improve your business processes. Certification of your quality management system can provide the small foundry both an economic and quality advantage over non-registered companies.
