The association strives for development of the die casting industry in Australia through education and development of the people in the industry. It also tries to promote cooperation between the association, the industry and the government. CSIRO conducts research in various fields such as manufacturing, minerals, energy, human health, etc. Research in casting is concerned with die-casting and development of new alloys and casting processes. Queensland Manufacturing Institute, Brisbane

QMI was set up in 1993 as a joint venture between a number of Australia's leading manufacturing, research, training and support agencies. The site also provides information about Rapid Prototype using Stereo Lithography (SL) process. The casting research is focused on the study of inter-relationship of part geometry, shrinkage patterns and stress distribution in investment castings.
