Carleton University, Ottawa
Institute is developing a Virtual die casting machine. This project also develop software to simulate the 3-D effects of die casting, which would reduce design time. Traditionally, it takes several weeks of trial and error on a constructed new die, to bring it to production readiness. Researchers are involved in software development which essentially focuses on reduction in design time.
Center for Metallurgical Process Engineering, Vancouver
The center offers graduate research opportunities, consulting services, internships and fostering strong ties with industry. Research focused on casting i.e. intelligent continuous casting and reheating of steel billets, high speed continuous casting of high quality billets, "smart technology" for continuous casting of slabs at high speeds, development of knowledge systems.
McGill Metals Processing Center, Montreal Quebec
MMPC is doing water modeling for the study of typical ladle/mould operations. This site provides information about solidification studies for extended metal delivery systems for horizontal belt casting processes, modeling of planar thin-strip steel casting processes, and strip casting simulator for direct steel casting (DSC) systems.
National Research Council of Canada, Ottawa
This is an internationally recognized R & D center dedicated to Canadian materials processing and forming industry. Researches in center is numerical modeling and simulation of injection molding. IMI has developed different finite element software which enable the simulation of various injection molding processes, conventional molding, gas assisted injection molding and co-injection molding.
Natural Resources Canada, Ottawa
The center is engaged in R & D program which is designed to provide technology solutions for Canadian industry. The center is involved in sustainable casting program. Objectives are to support Canadian foundry industry, reduce the environmental impact of foundry operations and to identify and develop more efficient and effective aluminum casting procedures for the automotive industry.
The University of British Columbia, Vancouver
This site gives a lot of information related to casting fields; some of them are application of commercial software package "ProCAST", crack formation during the startup of the direct chill casting process for the production of aluminum ingots, freckle formation mechanisms in the manufacture of single crystal superalloy castings and large superalloy ingots, etc.
Canadian Foundry Association (CFA), Canada
China Foundry Association is a unique first-class national foundry industry organization in China. CFA, is a gateway for foreign businessmen, foundrymen, engineers and investors who are interested in world largest foundry market by providing consultation, publications, conference, education and training programs and annual international exhibitions.
